Pentagon Report on Iran "Smells Like Blair"

April 22, 2010 (LPAC)—The just-released Pentagon report on the Military Power of Iran, which says that "With sufficient foreign assistance, Iran could probably develop and test an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of reaching the United States by 2015", "smells like Tony Blair," commented Lyndon LaRouche today.

The Pentagon report does not warn that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon, and has no timetable on when a nuclear bomb could be built by Iran. It also says that Iran's defense policy is "deterrence," not aggression, including that it is allegedly "leaving open" the option of building nuclear weapons. That should be news, but instead, the media — including the Dept. of Defense's own Armed Forces Press — is playing up a speculative section about an ICBM capability against the US, and about an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) threat to Europe.

The report is an annual rundown mandated by Congress, and tries its best to paint Iran as an enemy and threat to the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan. The "evidence" in these cases is written by a contortionist — since the Pentagon cannot deny that Iran has been cooperating and supportive of the Karzai government in Afghanistan, and has been supportive of the al-Maliki government in Iraq. So, the report plays up dubious evidence of the Taliban possessing Iranian-supplied weapons, and support for some Shi'ite sects and paramilitaries in Iraq.

Putting a great deal of focus on Iran's "training, arming and funding" of Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, it even goes so far as to claim that Hezbollah can "threaten Israeli and U.S. interests worldwide," as well as targeting Israel directly. The report is being used by the Congressional ninnies to further feed the war frenzy against Iran.

Afghan MP Says British Troops Trained Opium Cultivation Experts In Helmand

April 21, 2010 (LPAC)—It was an open secret. Nonetheless, cited by an Afghan Member of Parliament, Nasimeh Niazi, the news will bend many ears inside, and outside of, Afghanistan. Niazi told the Fars News Agency (FNA), an Iranian news agency, on April 20 that the foreign forces deployed in Afghanistan were involved in the production and trafficking of illicit drugs in the country, adding that the British troops have even trained opium experts. Britain deployed 7,000 troops in Helmand province beginning in 2006. Helmand province, where almost 50% of Afghanistan's opium is produced, began to register huge growth in opium production that year. In 2007, it reached a level of 4,400 tons, which is almost the amount entire world consumes annually. Productivity of opium per hectare, aided by British research, has grown enormously.

Ms. Niazi also pointed out that Helmand province in southwestern Afghanistan has been transformed into a profitable center for foreign states to earn an expense fund for their deployment in the country. Heroine-production labs in Helmand, which did not exist before the US-led war in Afghanistan, are now plentiful and work overtly, Niazi added. It is also important to note that with the "foreign" (read: British) experts' help, conversion of opium into heroin has shown an almost 30% rise in Afghanistan.

Pointing to her recent trip to the Helmand province, she said that during the trip, foreign forces pretended that they were destroying opium poppy farms, but "I realized that they, in fact, destroyed some small farms whose owners were poor farmers who didn't have power, and had planted one or two hectares of opium poppy" to make a living.

What Has to be Done if Civilization is to be Saved

The fact is that the entire system is toxic, and the Sucks case is only symptomatic of the systemic bankruptcy and criminality that the British have spawned.

What Obama and the London and Wall Street bankers are trying to do, with their "financial regulatory reforms," is to keep the racket going, to keep backing worthless, toxic garbage. Unless "reform" begins with a serious bankruptcy reorganization, this nation is finished. The core of the Obama bill on "financial regulation" is an insurance racket. Consider the editorial in today's Financial Times, the voice of the British Empire, which praises their puppet Obama for dismantling NASA's Constellation program, but chides him for not going further. They take particular aim at NASA's mission "based on the idea of man's need to discover"—the commitment to science and discovery for its own sake, which is at the heart of NASA's true achievements.

This British hatred of science and creativity goes all the way back to Paolo Sarpi, and to Aristotle before him. It is an assault against the very essence of what makes us human—and it must be defeated for just that reason.

Netanyahu Calls for "Coalition of the Willing" Against Iran

April 20, 2010 (LPAC)—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for "crippling sanctions" against Iran. Speaking on ABC's "Good Morning America," Netanyahu raved that the Iranian nuclear program was "the biggest issue facing our times." While calling for a ban on selling refined petroleum products to Iran, he demanded that if such sanctions can't be passed by the United Nations, then a "coalition of the willing" be formed.

Lyndon LaRouche, on hearing this, responded: "What a.... I don't want to call him an asshole, since some ass holes may serve a useful function."

Joining Netanyahu's obvious attempt to get U.S backing for an Israeli hit against Iran or a hit by the United States, Defense Minister Ehud Barak commented on statements by U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen, about a military option being on the table, but only as a last resort. Barak told Israeli Army Radio that, while Iran does not yet pose an existential threat to Israel, once it did, it would. So he called for Israel to make a "bold move" to break the stalemate. This move is to have sanctions with a specific deadline "in order to facilitate what Mullen's remark implies."

Barak went on, "I prefer to refrain from speculation about the future. Right now, Iran does not pose an existential threat to Israel. If Iran becomes nuclear, it will spark an arms race in the Middle East. This region is very sensitive because of the oil flow; this region is important to the entire world. The fact that Iran is not an immediate threat, but could evolve into one, means that we can't let ourselves fall asleep."

War Drums Sound in London for Israeli Breakaway Ally Attack on Iran

April 20, 2010h (LPAC)—The British are waging a full-scale propaganda offensive on behalf of an Israeli breakaway ally attack on Iran, sometime soon. While the U.S. military continues to sound warnings against an Israeli or American military strike on Iran's so-called nuclear weapons program, the Rupert Murdoch media apparatus is on an all-out drive to create the conditions for just such strikes. In a series of editorials today, Murdoch's Times of London pushed for hard sanctions against Iran, including a total embargo on refined petroleum imports, an embargo that would completely devastate the conditions of life for the majority of Iranians. In a second editorial, the Times peddled the already widely discredited claim that Syria was smuggling Scud missiles into Hezbollah in Lebanon. "In a message, sent earlier this month, Israel made it clear that it now regards Hezbollah as a division of the Syrian army and that reprisals against Syria will be fast and devastating," the Times editorialized from Tel Aviv.

In the face of this all-out British war propaganda offensive, reminiscent of exactly the kind of yellow journalism that preceeded the U.S. and U.K. invasion of Iraq, JCS Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen, over the weekend, spoke at Columbia University and voiced opposition to a near-term attack on Iran, warning that the two things that would totally destabilize the region would be an Iranian nuclear bomb and a military attack against Iran. Mullen warned against "unintended consequences" of such an attack, but Lyndon LaRouche responded by asking, "Why unintended? They are intended. Only someone who is frightened would say it is unintended. He knows they are intended, but Obama doesn't want anyone around him who tells the truth. Obama would be very angry if anyone told the truth."

Sources in the Persian Gulf confirm that there is widespread expectation of a new war before the end of the summer. Elaborate preparations are underway throughout the GCC countries, for damage control on such an Israeli strike on Iran, regardless or not of whether the United States steps in to bail out Israel once again. Among the preparations: accelerated construction of oil ports on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia to avoid the Straits of Hormuz choke-point, which would likely be shut by Iran in the event of an attack; other provisions for getting excess Saudi oil temporarily onto the world market, including pipeline routes out of the region through the U.A.E.; and Saudi crash efforts to complete a major hospital in Bahrain, in expectation of heavy casualties.

Goldman Sachs Scandal: The Whole System Is Toxic

April 20, 2010 (LPAC)—Calls for the investigation of Goldman Sucks are spreading rapidly, after the April 16 announcement by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charging the venerable Wall Street shark firm with fraud in the fabrication and marketing of mortgage-backed CDOs. The German and British governments both announced that they have asked the SEC for information, and will open their own investigations—in particular since a British bank (RBS) and a German bank (IBK) were among those fleeced.

In the U.S., the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, led by Carl Levin (D-MI), has announced that they are planning to focus hearings scheduled for next week at least in part on Goldman Sachs's role in the financial disaster, saying that they have uncovered new documents, and that "another big shoe [will] drop on Goldman." Congressmen De Fazio and Cummings have also called for hearings.

Nor is this scandal limited to the richly-deserving Goldman Sachs. According to the Financial Times, the SEC in 2009 had indicated that they were investigating Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, and UBS as well.

Sucks is expected to release their first quarter 2010 earnings report today, and they will reportedly announce profits of $10 billion, of which $5 billion will be handed out to top executives as bonuses. That should make them even more popular with the already enraged U.S. population. In fact, one wonders how it is possible that Sucks executives have not been lynched already.

U.K.'s Financial Times Says Obama Didn't Go Far Enough to Kill NASA

April 20, 2010 (LPAC)—Yesterday's Financial Times, while applauding President Obama's decision to scrap Constellation and the Moon program, opines that he "flunked the opportunity to drop it entirely," promising instead that someday there will be manned missions to Mars. The FT takes particular aim at what they call "NASA's fuzzier 'Dan Dare' mission, based on the idea of man's 'need to discover'"—i.e., the quest for scientific knowledge per se which is the very basis of NASA's true achievements, and which the British so hate.

Only perverts would say that, Lyndon LaRouche commented.

Constellation, the editorial states, "would have cost some $100 billion...to boldly go where man has gone before." They neglect to mention that this same amount will be spent in the Obama budget, but not to go anywhere. This British thrust is hardly surprising. For the first 50 years of the Space Age, the U.K. had NO manned space program, and only created a civilian space agency earlier this year. Instead, the FT advises the U.S. should do like Britain did, and reduce its space program to "practical initiatives designed to benefit life on Earth." Undoubtedly, the FT is thrilled that NASA will be participating in Earth Day celebrations this weekend.

Alternatively, describing the opposition to the "revised" plan Obama presented last week in Florida as including "a Rushmore-like lineup of Apollo veterans," Time Magazine's Jeffrey Kluger wonders if the "compromise" is not "very pretty lipstick to what remains, alas, a pig."

Similarly, four-time Shuttle astronaut, Tom Jones, calculates that the additional $6 billion Obama proposes be added to the NASA budget over the next five years is not a grand increase, but "does little more than pace inflation, and cannot fund both the revised Orion spacecraft," along with "bold" research, and breakthrough propulsion technology, and sending people into deep space. Obama's promise is "hollow," Jones concludes.

In a New York Times preview of the implementation of Obama's deathcare, Harvard economics professor and Obama advisor David Cutler says that it will require "the biggest transformation of government since World War II." The emphasis, of course, is on IMAC, also called IPAB, which is Obama's replica of the "T-4" program with which Hitler began the Nazi genocide, against his own German citizens, in the fall of 1939. Obama is pressing to move quickly to create the IPAB immediately, long before its scheduled implementation in 2014. And former Senator Tom Daschle, the author of Obama's Nazi program, insists that IPAB must be expanded to have power over all private health insurance!

"It's population control; genocide," said Lyndon LaRouche. "And yet there are people who don't accept the fact of the moustache under the President's nose. They don't accept the Hitler moustache. There are still corrupt people who do not accept that moustache; who object to it. And we should say they're corrupt people."

McCrystal is Fooled Again!

April 19, 2010 (LPAC)—Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. Afghan commander, told a French audience Friday that there are signs that some Taliban fighters are being trained in Iran, and that some weapons and ammunition have entered Afghanistan from Iran, although the numbers are not operationally significant. McChrystal said that he had no proof of Iranian government authorship, AP reported Saturday, April 17.

"I think it's completely misleading," said Lyndon LaRouche. "Something like that may be occurring, but that's not what it is. What you've got, is you've got the totally deceptive role played by the Saudis. And the Saudis control this operation; the Taliban is one aspect of it. So, they will be deployed for chaos. And, since the idiots in the U.S. and Britain are looking for a chaos operation, they're likely to get one! It's so nice, eh? And it's so typical."
